I’ve come into 2022 feeling quite refreshed

I must say I had a lovely break and have come into 2022 feeling quite refreshed even though I am currently smothered with a head cold.

How strange it is to be sick now with a pretty standard winter ailment that’s not Covid-19.

I haven’t been sick in about two years and so it was essential that I have a few medicinal hot whiskeys.

This would be not so great if I was partaking in a dry January but it’s miserable enough without being completely sober the whole month too!

I’m not really one for new year’s resolutions nor do I burden myself with making a big plan for the year.

I just like to moderately ease myself back into the real world after Christmas, reduce my sugar intake (farewell chocolate Kimberleys) and try to be somewhat productive.

I’m back in the gym after two weeks off during the festive season and to be fair that’s something I really enjoy.

This year I do plan on upping my exercise routine a fair bit and that’s easy enough when there’s not much else going on.

Plus, I have Lorna of Morgan Fitness PT always motivating me which is essential to achieve those fitness goals.

Even if it’s just getting out for a walk in the morning or evening, any bit of exercise is good for the mind and body.

While I’m not a huge sales shopper there are a few things I always keep an eye out for at this time of year.

Jewellery, coats, jeans and basic tees are all items you’ll get great wear out of and so if you can pick up a bargain then all the better.

Jewellery to me is so timeless and I absolutely love adding another special piece to my collection, so I had to take a peek at award winning Irish jewellery brand, Juvi Designs.

They are bringing some sparkle and joy to this grey January by adding stunning staple designs to their winter sale. With up to 30 per cent off rings, earrings and necklaces, the sale also includes pearls and hand stamped charms.

The stunning sale includes staples from their Manhattan and Black Spinel collections, as well as precious stone pieces like the vibrant Baja earrings in green onyx and ruby.

The sale continues until 31 January. Head to juvidesigns.com to shop now.

If you’re looking for a fab new coat or some knitwear that will carry you through to spring, I also recommend taking a look at Ballincollig boutique Silk Peaches website.

They carry Danish brand Ichi which is a favourite of mine and have a great new season collection featuring cool, casual separates.

I did make one or two purchases in the sales including some plain t-shirts and some with stripes as I needed to give my t-shirt selection a little refresh.

I did a major clear out in December so used the sales to fill in the gaps. I also picked up one or two pairs of jeans as again I really just needed some basic denim to fill a gap.

I went for my usual straight leg in a mid wash blue which I know I’ll wear year round.

I also may have gone a bit wild and bought a snakeskin straight leg pair in a mix of neutral white and grey which sound weird now I write this down, but I know I’ll wear with a plain white tee, black blazer and silver sandals in the spring.

Aside from that I’ll be saving my money for one really good bigger purchase during the year as I like to have a special piece to work towards.
