Pet charity awards return awards return

A charity scheme, now in its fifth year, that rewards outstanding achievements in Irish animal welfare organisations is to return this year.

Burns Pet Nutrition recently announced the return of The Burns Charity of the Year Award which recognises and rewards the outstanding achievements of animal welfare organisations throughout Ireland.

Burns Pet Nutrition offers animal charities, shelters and rescue centres the opportunity to showcase the great work they do by inviting animal welfare charities to apply for the Burns Charity of the Year Award. Previous recipients include Dogs for the Disabled, Cork City; Galway SPCA and most recently, The West Cork Animal Welfare Group.

The most recent Charity of the Year winner, West Cork Animal Welfare, was supported in 2020 with a donation that was vital during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The West Cork Animal Welfare Group were delighted to be chosen as Charity of the Year Ireland in 2020. They said: “We at the West Cork Animal Welfare Group were so delighted to be chosen. It really gave us a great boost of confidence to know that a large company like Burns was willing to support a small rescue like ours.”

The Charity of the Year Award is now open for applications, and applicants are invited to apply through https://burnspet.co.uk/2022burnspetcharityoftheyear/.

John Burns, founder of Burns Pet Nutrition said: “Myself and the Burns Pet Nutrition team are extremely passionate about supporting and giving back to the community in any way, shape or form possible, and the same goes for charities in need of the support they aren’t currently receiving. We are looking forward to working with the selected charity throughout 2022 and, hopefully, they will feel the benefit from the support Burns Pet Nutrition can offer.”

Burns will once again select a charity to receive the gift of a life changing donation, alongside an ongoing supportive partnership with the natural pet food company, often in the form of financial assistance and multiple promotional opportunities.

Burns also continues to support over 30 charities long term across the UK and Ireland, and contributes multiple one-off donations throughout the year. They also have their own in-house charity, The John Burns Foundation, which runs multiple community initiatives.
