MABS to provide money management education to schools

South Munster MABS, the Money Advice and Budgeting Service will host a number of money management education sessions through its offices across schools in Cork and Kerry for transition year students as part of Global Money Week, which is celebrating 10 years since its inception, reaching 53 million children and young people in 176 countries worldwide since 2012.

The theme of this year’s Global Money Week is ‘Build your future, be smart about money’, prompting young people to be forward-looking when it comes to making financial decisions.

Speaking ahead of Global Money Week, Ursula Collins, Regional Manager, South Munster MABS said: “We have seen a lot of interest from schools ahead of Global Money Week 2022 who are recognising the importance of money management education for their students. Given the current financial climate with global inflation and the cost of living continuing to rise, it has never been more important to equip young people with the knowledge and skills to make sound financial decisions. As a result of educating young people on money matters, it gives them the confidence to best manage their finances into their adult life, building financial understanding and resilience for the future.”

Throughout Global Money Week, the South Munster MABS local offices will visit secondary schools, conducting interactive money management education sessions. For details on your local office, visit mabs.ie.
