Make it sensational this year

Summer is coming and with that comes the occasion season.

Weddings, communions and confirmations are in full swing but why not make sure your makeup purchase will see you through the summer holiday season too? Lighten up on coverage, carry a compact and use hydrating luminous products to ensure a glow.

Base

The YSL Nu range, which is manufactured in France using 100 per cent renewable energy, benefits from consciously designed packaging and includes five signature products designed to deliver an all-day-long fresh complexion.

The Bare Look Tint (€32) is an ultra-buildable tint with brightening efficacy thanks to its 90 per cent skincare base enriched with hyaluronic acid to hydrate deeply and marshmallow, known for its soothing and brightening properties.

The Glow In Balm (€32) is an oil-in-water formula with light-reflecting pearls that gives immediate glow and 24 hour hydration. Made with plant-based glycerin, known for hydration and brightening properties, and Geranium Rosat from the Ourika Community Gardens, it protects skin and gives an extra boost of glow.

The Blotting Lotion (€32) is designed to offer a comfortable and long-lasting mattified skin finish, made with salicylic acid to prevent oily skin and limonette from the Ourika Community Gardens, known for its antioxidant properties. The Tone Corrector (€32) is a creamy-textured natural brightener comprising one billion tone correcting micro pearls in three shades, offering eight hours of hydration. The Dewy Mist (€32) which uses bi-phase formula technology for moisture, comfort and plumped glowy skin, containing super hydrating hyaluronic acid and pomegranate oil extract.

Nothing says summer like a compact and Max Factor Miracle Touch Foundation (RRP €12.99 ) is the one of dreams. The solid to liquid one is great for a clutch. The unique Max Factor Miracle Touch Foundation is now upgraded with hyaluronic acid and SPF 30. It gives you flawless, younger-looking skin with one easy application.

The lightweight solid formula becomes liquid with the warmth of your fingers and glides across your skin for a smooth, perfected look. It reduces the appearances of pores, skin discolorations (redness, age spots, sunspots) and blemishes, without settling into fine lines and wrinkles. It leaves skin feeling and looking moisturised and revitalises the look of dry, dull skin. It is suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin and is non-comedogenic, so it won't clog pores.

Colour

Add a splash of colour with the new Artdeco Bronzing Collection Collect Sunshine Memories. This year's bronzing collection was inspired by the Italian ‘white city’ Ostuni and a small family business that has been producing unique handmade ceramic and terracotta objects in the middle of the ‘Città Bianca’ for generations.

The colour range of the products radiates warmth and joy with soft brown meeting bright cobalt blue. The light textures give a summery, radiant, and tanned complexion - as if kissed by the sun.

I tried the bronzing blush for €32 and it offered a lovely glow with gentle flush on the cheeks. Paired with the High Performance Style on cobalt blue, it brought a feeling of heady summer nights and the shadow didn’t budge.

I used it to outline my eyes and then just smudged. I added two coats of the Volume Sensation Mascara (€19.50) and it was an easy complete look.

Fragrance and body

Tom Ford Soleil Summer 2022 collection - My two picks from the range are of course body and fragrance. Every year as well as my beloved Neroli Portofino, I adore the summer collection. Soleil Brulant Shimmering body oil (€87). This silky scented oil adds a seductive gleam to skin while tempting the senses with the scorching sensuality of Soleil Brûlant. Soleil Brûlant (€276) captures the high-shine brilliance of the golden sun beaming on a private oasis. The sun-kissed freshness of mandarin and bergamot mingles with spicy pink peppercorn, giving way to an ornate and regal floral heart while orange flower absolute and a note of radiant black honey release a seductive vapour. The background brings the burnished warmth of decadent amber embellished with resins and woods. An air of vetiver and leather stokes the smokiness of extravagant incense.
