I had room in my suitcase for a couple of purchases

We stayed away for 4 nights and had the weekend at home to recharge before we went back to work.

It was just the right amount of time and I must say Palma was the perfect destination for a shorter sun holiday break.

Now, even though I had all my outfits for day and night planned and I would consider myself a pretty good packer I still managed to over pack and I’m always surprised by how much I can get into a 10kg and carry-on bag.

I still had a little bit of room for a couple of purchases I made in Mango including 2 gorgeous dresses that I can’t wait to wear. I really miss not having a Mango in Cork and even though I know it’s online it is one of those labels that I need to try on as I can be about 3 different sizes depending on the fit.

Aside from that trip to the nearby shopping centre, I pretty much spent all my time on the sun lounger and read 3 books while I was away. Does anyone else pack way too many swimsuits/bikinis and then have 2 favourites that you just end up washing and wearing on rotation all the time?

I definitely could have left 1 at home and saved more space in my case. The temperature was so hot, and I basically lived in shorts and a plain white tee during the day or just popped my kimono on over a bikini by the pool.

I find it’s nearly unbearable to wear even a shoe in that heat and I just wanted to wear super light and comfortable clothes.

For night I pretty much wore a co-ord every evening and it was so handy. You just pop it on and you look instantly dressy even though you’re just wearing a skirt or shorts and a shirt. I actually bought a shirt and shorts pyjamas set in Penneys before I left with a really vibrant red floral print and they were so nice I ended up wearing them out for dinner on the first night with some pink block heels.

You would never have guessed they were pjs and the comfort level was extremely high I can tell you. I don’t think I’ve worn a pair of shorts in about 5 years and here I found myself on holidays wearing them every single day and I’ll be incorporating shorts into my every day wardrobe now too.

I find them much more comfortable that wearing than a shorter skirt and are so easy to dress up or down.

I also love a good pair of denim shorts and they work so well on holidays as you can wear with a plain crop t-shirt and flats for day and then just add a printed shirt and a heel for night time or a cami and light blazer with statement earrings.

I also picked up a lovely shorts set from H&M in an almost retro floral print and in a light and easy to wear linen fabric. I’ll wear both together at home on a fine day and the shorts I would pair with a t-shirt and the shirt with some jeans afterwards.

They’re the kind of things you’d wear year after year and would make for easy styling pieces on many holidays. Just throw them in the case and you’re done!
