40 years of make and do

As part of their 40th anniversary celebrations, Cork Counselling Services will feature as part of Joy In The Park, which takes place this Sunday in Fitzgerald’s Park.

They look forward to hosting arts and crafts workshops throughout the day, so look out for the big activities tent.

“Counselling is about giving expression to our inner world,” explained Hugh Morley, Head of Business at the charity.

“Of course this means talking and listening but it also means being creative. You don’t need to be ‘good’ at arts and crafts, it’s about putting a bit of your nature out in the world and having it seen and appreciated. And that can help us feel well.”

The not-for-profit service is hosting an array of workshops throughout the afternoon alongside partner community organisations. From working with clay, collage making, mindful colouring to mobile making, there’s plenty of opportunity to get involved.

Supported by Cork City Council and HSE and in partnership with Cork Mental Health Foundation, Joy In the Park will be a celebration of life, whilst highlighting the importance of minding our mental health and well-being through bringing the community together and finding our joy.

“We can’t thank the organisers enough for their vision and hard work,” said Morley.

“It gives our organisation an opportunity to connect publicly with the community we have served in confidence for 40 years.”
