€14m extension for Kinsale school

The contracts have been signed for the design team in charge of a €14 million extension at a county Cork secondary school.

Kinsale Community School put pen to paper last week on a project that will see a number of specialist facilities added to the school’s existing offering.

School principal Fergal McCarthy described the extension as a “very positive and exciting development” and paid tribute to the Department of Education for the commitment that it has shown to the school.

He said: “The impressive educational facility which already exists at Kinsale is to be further enhanced through additional specialist facilities which will be of immense benefit, not just for our school community, but for the benefit of the entire community of Kinsale and its environs.

“The board of management of the school is looking forward to working closely with the design team to ensure that the new enhanced facility meets the educational needs of the entire community and will be of twenty first century quality.”
