Potter parody returns, Hogwarts and all!

Suitable for ages 6 to Dumbledore (who is apparently very old indeed), a hugely successful two-man Harry Potter parody will appear on Leeside this month.

Choosing the Everyman Theatre to kick off its magical return to Ireland, ‘Potted Potter: The Unauthorised Harry Experience’ will be in Cork from 29-31 July.

Performed by the award-nominated British duo Dan and Jeff, this will be the show’s first return to Irish shores since its sell-out 2014 world tour.

The show takes on the ultimate challenge of condensing all seven Harry Potter books and a real-life game of quidditch into 70 spellbindingly hilarious minutes. About time, seeing as Ireland did win the last documented Quidditch World Cup in 1994.

The show features more beloved characters than you can shake a wand at, as well as a fire-breathing dragon, an endless supply of costumes, brilliant songs, ridiculous props, and a generous helping of Hogwarts magic.

Created by double Olivier Award Best Entertainment nominees Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner, the show has been described as a must-see for Potter addicts and a great introduction to the series for anyone who has ever wondered what all the fuss is about. Whether you don’t know the difference between a horcrux and a hufflepuff, the show promises roaring laugher for witches and wizards of all ages.

‘Potted Potter’ has been seen by over one million muggles (non-magic folk) around the world since its 2006 premiere, including 30 weeks off-Broadway across two sold-out seasons. The show has also enjoyed no less than 5 West End runs, as well as multiple tours of North America and Australasia.

Dan and Jeff first conjured up ‘Potted Potter’ in 2005 as a five-minute piece performed at a London bookshop for the enjoyment of fans awaiting the release of the sixth book in the series.

The show grew from there into a full-length stage production, first seen at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2006, and has since toured internationally for over a decade, securing an Olivier Award nomination as Best Entertainment and Family Show.

The show is written by Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner, directed by Richard Hurst, and designed by Simon Scullion. Lighting was done (probably with some magic involved) by Tim Mascall, and music was done by Phil Innes.
