I’m surviving on a uniform of denim, t-shirt, blazer and mules

I for one seem to have lost my style mojo and the warm but rainy weather is certainly not helping the situation. How does one strike the perfect balance of staying dry but also remaining cool and not overheating? I wish I had all the answers but alas I do not.

I’ve pretty much been surviving on a uniform of denim, t-shirt, blazer and some mules as I’m finding trainers make me overheat. I’ll also pop on a dress and wear with an ankle boot but that’s as adventurous as I’m getting at the moment.

I’m also heading to Manchester at the weekend and with the weather being much the same over there, I am in a total dilemma over what to pack.

Of course, you want to look a bit nicer than normal on holidays but also factor in that you’ll be walking around a lot so you need comfort and also need to keep dry. Honestly it’s just an absolute sartorial minefield.

So far, I’m not entirely sure what I’m after packing is right and I suspect I’ll do some last minute changes on Friday before I leave. I’ve tried to keep it basic enough and have packed a trusty leopard print dress that I’ll wear with a denim jacket and boots for strolling around during the day.

It’s an easy go to look that requires minimal effort, just a few layers of gold jewellery and I always feel put together in my favourite print. We will be meeting friends of ours early in the evening for drinks and staying out and this is where I feel it’s the most difficult outfit because you need something that looks casual enough during the day but dressy for when you hit the bars.

I’ve got two dress options packed and I can wear both with my silver boots and a cream longline blazer. The key really is to have items that can work with all the same accessories and that’s why I always pack either silver or gold because they really just lift any outfit and give it a bit of night time pizzazz.

I’ve also packed some Kelly green wide leg trousers which are so comfortable and nearly but not quite as comfortable as track suit pants but also look stylish.

Perfect for travelling home on Sunday when you’re feeling a tad delicate from cocktails and also will take you to brunch before you leave.

In place of my usual more structured blazers, I’ve packed a very lightweight vintage jacket that has the most vibrant print that works well with the green of the trousers and I’ll pair with a black cropped t-shirt underneath.

Now our flight isn’t till really late that night so I have packed a tracksuit in the bag just in case because sometimes you just need the comfort of a good trackie and to throw your hair up on top of your head in a bun.

All sense of airport chic goes out the window on the way back from your hols. Also on returning home, I have to immediately throw everything into the washing machine and unpack my bag before I can relax but my husband could leave the bag untouched for a walk at the bottom of the stairs which sends my anxiety through the roof! These are the two very distinct camps of holiday makers. Which one are you?
