Irish designed jewellery inspired by art and more

I’m planning a little trip to Dublin at the end of the month. I’m going to a very exciting launch but when I’m in the city at all I really like to make the most of it and see as much as I can.

One place that is top of my list is to go see Irish jewellery brand, Eve Ray designs, which has launched in the National Gallery of Ireland Shop.

Along with 2 leading Irish female designers, Kiki Na Art and Margaret O'Connor, Eve Ray designs, founded in 2020 by Maeve Barry, launched recently as part of a new collection of jewellery promoting Irish design in the Gallery.

The costume jewellery designed and made by Maeve Barry in Dublin is inspired by art, Ireland and her childhood in her native Kerry.

The National Gallery Shop now stocks pieces from the Eve Ray Joan Miro inspired collection, with each earring taking inspiration from the abstract work of Miro and named after his paintings.

Pieces stocked include 'in the garden 1925' in 4 colour options and 'constellation' earrings in two colour ways.

Bright and bold earrings take centre stage in eve ray designs' work, where Maeve works with mirrored perspex and clay sourced in Ireland and the UK. The pieces are so unique and work well with simple outfits or worn layered over dramatic print and colour for all my maximalist gals and guys.

Speaking of the launch into her 1st bricks and mortar store, Maeve said: "It’s a dream come to true to launch my jewellery in the National Gallery. A pinch me moment! As a new brand to be chosen to stand alongside Kiki Na Art and Margaret O'Connor makes is so special and validates my work, which is so important for any new designer.

“As a former graphic design student, I loved art from a very early age, so to have my first permanent shop be the National Gallery of Ireland is just mind blowing! I am so thankful to Lauralee Guiney and the team at NGI for their support.”

I also am looking forward to perusing the pieces from Margaret O’Connor who creates amazingly bejewelled headpieces. I treated myself to one of her velvet and jewel headbands a few seasons ago and it’s the perfect piece to elevate a simple look.

I also love the pieces she creates with neon pvc which gives a modern take on the crown and top of my wish list this year is one of her iconic Notions necklaces.

If you’re looking for a 1 of a kind, original pieces of jewellery then be sure to check out Kiki Na Art for hand painted earrings and necklaces.

The pieces feature images of truly inspiring icons and are as varied as Stevie Nicks and Countess Markievicz.

Big and bold these statement pieces will add some dramatic flare to your outfit and make for the perfect focal point.

All 3 women are creating beautiful, wearable art and the national Gallery of Ireland is the perfect place for you to see these pieces in person.
