ARDÚ ready for this?

Alex O'Sullivan

Ardú Street Art Project returns to Cork city this month for its third annual outing. It kicked off yesterday and runs 2 October and features a number of guided tours. This year features Claire Prouvost @ Popes Quay/Shandon Street, Kitsune Jolene @ Sullivan's Terrace and Vents137 @ South Terrace.

Since October 2020, the annual event has invited 11 of Ireland’s most respected and renowned street artists - Deirdre Breen, Maser, James Earley, Peter Martin, Shane O’Driscoll, Aches, Garreth Joyce, Shane O’Malley, Friz, Conor Harrington, and Asbestos - to create large scale murals at key city-centre locations.

These murals include the work of some of the most exciting names on the international street art scene.

These year's new inspiring pieces of work dotted across the city will hugely add to the cultural landscape of the city centre. The art from previous years has spurred conversations on the ground, shared widely across online platforms, and been praised internationally in the likes of Travel US Magazine, and Brooklyn Street Art.

But this year, Ardú does not stop there. There will be several other events also taking place:

WALKING TOURS

For Culture Night Cork City on Friday 23 September, artists and organisers will take small groups on a free walking tour of a selection of the murals they have produced in the city. The tours will explore the street art that has been painted in Cork over the last two years, as well as seeing some artwork being painted as part of the 2022 initiative. See booking details at Eventbrite.com. An additional tour will be held the following day at 1pm Saturday 24 September.

CINEMA, CHATS, & CHOONS

Ardú organisers invite you to an evening of cinema, chats and choons, upstairs in The Roundy on the evening of Sunday 25 September. See booking details and admission prices at Eventbrite.com.

SELF-GUIDED AUDIO TOURS

Self-guided audio tours of the Ardú Street Art in Cork city are also available on arducork.ie. The tour can be accessed free of charge at any time, and is suitable for all ages. Visit the Ardú map on the website and find the ‘Free Audio Tour’ page to stream.
