Fashion brunch highlighted 4 key AW season trends

Events are back with a bang.

Last week I styled the Opera Lane AW22 fashion brunch alongside the Opera Lane personal stylist Breeda O’Connell which took place in the beautiful surrounds of the Grill Room at the River Lee Hotel.

We decided to focus on 4 key trends from Opera Lane stores for the season ahead and while I styled a look per trend, Breeda then took each trend and showed us how to adapt the trend on a petite and tall curvy model.

The key takeaway message from the event was even though trends come and go, it’s all about how you interpret the trend and not about rushing out and buying a whole new wardrobe. Instead, see what you already have in your wardrobe and maybe add one or two key items to refresh it for the season ahead.

There’s so many looks to choose from, but we focused on a grown up nod to ‘90s grunge, neutrals, bright colour and a little bit of sparkle. ‘90s grunge gets an update and instead of the traditional reds, greens and blues of plaid shirts, think low key shades of grey in easy to wear shackets.

It’s Angela Chase from my favourite show in the ‘90s ‘My So Called Life’ but she’s in her late 30s now and living her best life. Add oversized knitwear, faux leather leggings and of course the ultimate ‘90s staple - a chunky boot to complete the look.

We also had a nod to neutrals which even though at times can seem a little bit safe is in fact a great opportunity to experiment with texture. Think chunky knits, shearling accessories and fabulous overcoats you’ll wear year after year.

I also styled a fabulous look of head to toe bright pink because autumn winter is the perfect time to really go wild with colour. Get that dopamine hit when the weather is dull and dreary. Instead of colour clashing, we are now seeing head to toe styling in one colour creating drama and impact and I am very much here for that look.

Lastly, we couldn’t have an AW fashion preview without a bit of sparkle and a sequin is not just for the festive season. It’s all about wearing sparkle in your day to day life. I styled a great dress from

Next had almost a peacock print and in a lurex fabric but was in fact very versatile and could easily be dressed up or down. Wear with biker boots and a leather jacket for day or with a faux fur and gold platforms for night time.

With the looks in order and being so busy the last few weeks, I really needed a pre-event pick me up and so I booked in for a facial at the newly opened FILO Laser and Aesthetic clinic in Ballincollig.

Now firstly the décor is super chic and has such a luxury feel to it, so that I immediately felt like it was such a treat plus facialist, and laser expert nurse Christina has such a wealth of knowledge that I knew I was in good hands and made me feel so relaxed.

The Aqua Exclusive facial which takes 90 minutes made my skin look so glowy gave the effect of having had a face lift without actually having a facelift. I mean what more do you want, and it was exactly what I needed ahead of my event.

You may feel tired to the extreme on the inside, but your face looks like you’ve slept a full eight hours. Result! Rediscover your glow at Filo.
