Teenager hospitalised after assault

A teenager is in hospital following an assault in the city centre early this morning.

The incident took place shortly before 2am on Paul Street. The injured man, reported to be in his late teens, was taken to CUH and where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Gardaí have arrested a man in his 20s in connection with the assault and he is currently being detained at Bridewell Garda Station.

A garda report read: “Gardaí attended an incident of assault that occurred at approximately 1.50am earlier today, Tuesday 18 October on Paul Steet, Cork city.

“One man aged in his late teens was conveyed to Cork University Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries sustained as a result of this incident.

“Another man aged in his 20s was arrested in relation to this incident and is currently detained in Bridewell Garda Station at this time.”
