When you were small, what did you want to be as a grown-up?

I dreamed of being a professional soccer player.

Tell us about your career progression to your role today:

I graduated from MTU Kerry Campus in 2017. I began my career in the Celtic Ross Hotel in Rosscarbery, managing the leisure club for almost 5 years. I’ve recently changed jobs taking up a new role as Leisure Club Manager in Talbot Fitness at Oriel House Hotel Ballincollig.

What is the most enjoyable aspect of what you do?

Working in the health & fitness industry is very enjoyable and very rewarding. Guiding individuals on a health, fitness or lifestyle change journey is a huge responsibility. I get satisfaction out of helping people. I enjoy engaging with a wide demographic and feel I’m always learning something new.

What motivates you?

I’m a self-motived individual. New challenges are always a good motivator for me. I think it’s important to keep things fresh and always strive for more.

What advice would you give your 15 year old self?

Be consistent and do the basics well.

If you weren’t in the job you have, what would you be doing?

Relaxing on a beach in the Maldives!

What is your greatest life or career achievement to-date?

I don’t like singing my own praises however I have to mention my quick career progression. I think it’s a great achievement having such industry experience at a young age.

Who has had the biggest influence on you in your life?

My mother her hard work and dedication to our family is an inspiration.

What is the life dream now?

Stay fit, healthy and enjoy life.

How do you switch off?

I use any form of physical activity as a tool to switch off.

What is your favourite Cork memory?

Cork winning the All-Ireland Football Final in 2010. The captain’s homecoming in Bantry was unbelievable.

What is your favourite place in Cork?

The Marina Market followed by a stroll down along the Marina.

Do you have a favourite quote or motto?

“The simple that works is better than the complicated that doesn’t."

When are you at your happiest?

I enjoy being around people and involved in sport. I’m happiest with my friends and family.

What is your hidden talent?

Unfortunately, I don’t have any hidden talents!

What might we be surprised to know about you?

I have a sweet tooth. I have a treat every evening with my cup of tea.

Favourite thing about Cork: The culture and food in Cork. I’m originally from West Cork but live and work in Cork city. I have the best of both worlds. I enjoy the city lifestyle Cork has to offer.

Least favourite thing about Cork: Being so far removed from the rest of the country. However maybe that’s a good thing!

One thing you’d change about Cork: Infrastructure could be improved around the city and county.
