Luxury loungewear

This time of year, pre the party season, I always like to baton down the hatches in the evenings to get as much rest as I can and such hibernation requires the most luxurious of loungewear.

I had this discussion the other day with a friend of mine about the cost of pyjamas and loungewear and how sometimes it can be quite expensive. I’m a fan of fabrics such as cotton and silk which are so lovely to wear but ultimately cost that bit more.

However, when you think about it, we wear our pyjamas and loungewear more than our regular clothes and they are washed more often so when you break it down to cost per wear, they are worth the investment.

One label that has just come on my radar is Noema Lifestyle. Noema is about thoughtfully-designed everyday effortless staples. It’s about having a smart wardrobe and living essentials you can rely on, with a taste of Mallorca and produced locally right here in Ireland.

Noema, is the founder and creative director of her namesake brand and, began her career as an aerospace engineer which isn’t the usual route for launching a lifestyle brand but as she said, someone once told her “every engineer has an artist and an entrepreneur hidden deep inside”.

And so, she took that literally and returned to a slower pace reminiscent of her life growing up in Mallorca.

Noema said: “These days, living in Ireland has helped to unearth and inspire my creativity and craft, but as I see a post-pandemic frenetic pace creeping back into our lives, I want to put the spotlight on what really matters – the return of simplicity in how you dress and live. It’s an art. It’s the art of living simply, the Mallorca way. I want my journey of reinvention, new opportunities and freedom to infuse into every piece of Noema’s lifestyle because life is better when we take it slow.”

The Noema label is very much based around the capsule wardrobe which makes dressing more minimal and sustainable.

All the Noema pieces work beautifully together and so many of the pieces can be worn relaxing about the house but can also be dressed up if the occasion calls for it. Items like the Brisa silk shirt when paired with the Borne trousers make for a gorgeous loungewear set and is available in white and black. You can create the perfect monochrome look that would work so well for hosting dinner parties at home where comfort and style is the order of the day.

They are also pieces you can wear year round and while they can be layered and worn here in winter they would also make the ideal pieces to throw in your case when heading to the sun on your holidays.

If it’s more a luxury pyjamas you are after then Cath Kidston do the most gorgeous range in fabulous prints. They are more on the spendy side but they make the most beautiful gift to someone who loves to lounge or dare I say it as a special self gifting treat. They also offer an embroidered monogramming service which to me is the ultimate luxury. Who doesn’t want their initials emblazoned on their pjs?!
