Making the most of what you have

I’ve had such a busy week full of events, garden parties and a trip to Clare.

When all the events start happening it really feels like the summer and with that comes the switching of my wardrobe and trawling through it to see what outfits I have on hand.

I obviously don’t want or need to buy new stuff all the time so it’s really all about making the most of what I already have.

On Wednesday it was all about cocktails and glam as the Publicity Loft hosted their Summer in the City event at the River Lee Hotel and we got to check out new products from Max Factor, Rimmel and Sally Hansen.

I had just the outfit ready to go; a cream satin suit from River Island complete with feather cuffs and the trousers were really interesting as they had a high side slit and a floaty layer over this again. Sounds weird but it was the perfect mix of comfortable and glam. I would recommend it for someone looking for a chic city wedding bridal look.

On Thursday I was off to see the lovely folk at Filo Laser & Aesthetic Clinic in Ballincollig at an event to showcase some of their new machines which are bringing the world’s most revolutionary technology to Cork. The BBL or Broadband Light machine is said to be a favourite of Kim Kardashian and is a must for dealing with age and sun spots, heavy pigmentation and more. There’s always such a lovely atmosphere in the clinic and as there are so many fabulous treatments here it’s definitely worth booking a consultation with Christina or Ryan to see what the best treatment is for you.

I had a styling job on before this event, so I was rushing out the door and didn’t know what to wear but I spotted a vintage silk jacket in my wardrobe that I hadn’t worn for ages, and it was just what I needed for the day. Light enough for running around but the print and colour made it that bit more dressy. I paired it with my trusty black trousers from H&M, a gold chain belt to bring in the waist and leopard print shoes.

On Saturday I was off to Clare for a friend’s birthday and it was so nice to have a night away plus Clare is such a beautiful county so it really was a tonic.

On the way home we stopped into the amazing home of interior architect Rachel Hobbs who had teamed up with Pieces.ie to showcase their stunning garden furniture. Even though the day had been a little dull, the sun shone while we were there, and it was the perfect way to celebrate the arrival of summer.

Now I did leave and immediately want to give my garden a complete overhaul and I thought the Komodo outdoor sofa range with light pink cushions were particularly lovely and would be a stylish addition to any garden.

Rachel and Pieces.ie had created so many different little areas in the garden and it gave me loads of inspiration for what I can do in my own outdoor space. Jill Wild created beautiful floral displays and we had drinks from West Cork Distillers and delicious food from TLC Foods. Roll on the sunshine and plenty of garden parties!
