The woman, believed to be in her 40s and from the Clonakilty area, was reported missing after she failed to return from a walk. The search has been ongoing since Tuesday evening.

Gardaí, along with the Coast Guard and the RNLI have been leading the efforts to locate the missing woman. The search is currently focused in the vicinity of Long Strand Beach. Boats, a helicopter and drone technology has been deployed to aid in the search.

A spokesperson from the Department of Transport told the Cork Independent: “The Irish Coast Guard Maritime Rescue Sub Centre (MRSC) at Valentia is assisting An Garda Síochana with a missing person search in the Castlefreke area of West Cork. The initial request was received Tuesday evening.

“Initial searches were conducted by the Waterfor- based Coast Guard helicopter, Castlefreke Coast Guard unit utilising drone technology, and Union Hall RNLI. The search is ongoing and the Coast Guard will continue to support An Garda Síochana as necessary.”

A garda representative spoke to the Cork Independent, providing an update on the search. “Gardaí and other agencies are continuing to conduct a search for a missing person in the Rosscarbery area of West Cork. There is no further information available at this time,” the representative said.
