Tee time

It can add colour and print to your outfit, dress down a more dressy look or be a fashion saviour when you don't quite know what to wear. What could possibly make this item even more amazing I hear you say? Well, what if you could get your very own personalised t-shirt featuring all the things you love made right here in Cork.

Enter South Clothing and the fabulous Gaby who I had the pleasure of meeting recently. Gaby is the face behind South Positive Clothing and is originally from Venezuela.

“I moved to Ireland just a few months before the pandemic hit. After 4 years living here, two babies and a new business, I feel absolutely blessed with the opportunities this wonderful country has given me.

“Being an immigrant is not an easy road to take, you need a high power of resilience, perseverance, and a positive attitude to face many challenges.”

Gaby put on hold her career as a journalist and marketing specialist to become this completely new version of herself as a newbie in the country, as a wife, mother and now as a business owner and creative.

I adore the message behind Gaby’s brand and the spirit of South Clothing is to inspire people with positivity and unique fashion styles. South Positive clothing portrays chic and personalised T-shirts and sweaters designed with elements that inspire and make an impact on people’s lives. Why have any old t-shirt when you can have one emblazoned with your passions and interests?

I have one myself featuring symbols of travel, my dog Blanche, fashion and coffee amongst other things. When designing your tee, Gaby wants to know what elements of your life make you happy, make you smile, what dreams you have, what makes you inspired every day and with that valuable information she starts designing. She puts drawings together to create a charming and unique piece just for you. It’s a perfect gift for someone special or as a treat to yourself. The exercise here is to boost people’s positive thinking too so that when you think about what makes you happy your mood will change, I have to say I found it interesting when Gaby asked me to name six things I was interested in and loved, and it got me thinking.

For Gaby, she finds it fascinating to hear people’s stories and what they would like to show on their clothing.
