It’s showcase time!

It’s all about making noise at the Everyman next month when five of Leeside’s most exciting acts take to the stage for a wall-shaking independent music showcase.

Returning after a hugely successful first running, UnCorked comes to the iconic Everyman stage on 18 September.

The event is an opportunity for audiences to get a snapshot of some of the artists making the biggest waves in Cork's vibrant music scene right now.

This year’s bands are IRIS, PebbleDash, The Cliffords, Staff Party, and Skies Behind, who are also the event’s curators.

IRIS is a five-piece indie/pop outfit from the outskirts of Cork city who have been performing together since the age of 13. The band started writing original music in the summer of 2022 and made their way into the Cork music scene that autumn, gaining recognition for their vocal harmonies and catchy pop rhythms. From childhood best friends to bandmates, their own play on the indie/pop genre with layers of vocal harmonies united with their sibling-like chemistry on stage is unmatchable.

Pebbledash is a four-piece rock band informed by the wandering melodies of sean nós and trad music, the riotous noise of shoegaze, and introspective lyricism. The band's sound has been evolving since their first release, moving from the melodic sensibilities of indie-rock to exploring darker, moodier soundscapes. Their adventurous song writing often features long runtimes, extended instrumental sections, use of feedback and noise, ethereal and dreamy guitarwork, along with melancholic, expressive lyrics.

The Cliffords are another indie rock/pop band from Cork. They erupted onto the scene after winning the UCC Battle of the Bands and have since wowed crowds in venues like Cyprus Avenue, Upstart Festival, and The Workmans Club. With a unique indie rock sound fusing blasting trumpets, sweet vocal melodies, and soaring guitar riffs, they are surely a group to watch for the future.

Adding a bit of dance and punk to the mix are Staff Party, a six-piece rock band based in Cork who have found a way to combine their thirst for rock’n’roll with their deep passion for dancing. They have taken their indie-rock songs and fused them with dance beats, lush synths, and heavy guitars to create their unique, modern, dance-punk sound. Staff Party burst onto the Irish music scene in spring 2022 with a sold-out show in An Spailpín Fánach and have earned themselves a solid reputation for delivering one of the most energetic live shows on the Irish scene right now.

Skies Behind are an alternative rock band known for their energetic live performances at venues across the country. Vulnerable lyricism coupled with carefully crafted instrumental textures allows their music to seamlessly move between genres and emotions. The band is currently working on its upcoming EP ‘The Spaces’, with the first single set to come out mid-October. The band draws its influences from acts like Biffy Clyro, Foo Fighters, Pillow Queens, and Lower than Atlantis.
