Man stabbed and seriously injured in Mayfield

Gardaí have launched an investigation after a man in his 40s was injured in a stabbing incident in Mayfield earlier today.

The incident took place outside a residential property in Annalee Grove on the Northside of the city.

Gardaí were called to the scene “of a criminal damage and assault incident” at approximately 7.45am this morning.

One male, has been taken to Cork University Hospital with what are described as “serious injuries.”

It is believed the man was stabbed when he called to a residence in the neighbourhood.

Gardaí have sealed off the area and are conducting a forensic and technical examination, they remain at the scene.

“Investigations are continuing,” a spokesperson said.
