Red alert

Red is a hot trend in 2024, having gained popularity towards the end of last year. If you're a fan and have been wearing it, you'll be happy to hear that it's not going out of style. Bright red will continue to be a standout colour in 2024, and we can expect to see new variations in both tone and texture.

The key to successfully incorporating red into your spring wardrobe is selecting the right shade. Opt for brighter, lighter hues like coral, cherry red, or strawberry for a fresh look. These tones radiate warmth without being too overpowering.

However if you like to go bold, scarlet red makes a vibrant statement, and was the chosen hue by celebrities at many of the awards ceremonies last month.

Every variety of scarlet is out there, so there will be a version that suits your skin. For those with cool undertones, opt for blue-reds as they will be most flattering. If you have warm undertones, stick to classic reds and orange-reds for a good match.

If you are wondering how to wear it, consider mixing red with soft pastels like blush pink, the Boden spring jumper (pictured) is a great example of how these tones can work together. A red blouse paired with light-coloured trousers or a red skirt matched with a pastel top would also be great combinations.

If you're not ready to commit to a full red outfit, incorporating red accessories is a stylish alternative. Red shoes, handbags, scarves, or even sunglasses will add a fun flash of brightness.
