My spring wardrobe revival continues...

Spring truly has sprung, and I know this because I went totally wild the other day and wore shoes without socks for the first time in months.

Yes, I went to work wearing cream pumps and not a sock in sight just a bare foot.

Now, I should point out that I was mildly chilly, but I am brazening it out and continuing with my spring wardrobe revival.

It can be daunting doing that wardrobe changeover but really all you need is to just do a few little switch ups and you’ll be embracing all the style that the new season has to offer.

While I may have changed it up in my footwear, this was all achievable because I kept the rest of my clothing relatively unchanged and so was quite cosy and layered in my outfit. One item that I wore that day and that really is a spring style saviour is the trusty cardigan. The cardigan is having a fashion resurgence, a glow up if you will and I for one am here for it.

I love a good striped cardigan and it’s perfect for layering and adding some print to a classic look. I’ve worn mine with navy trousers, a trench coat and my pumps with a cross body bag and it’s an ideal transitional look.

I’m also still quite partial to a chunky cardigan and I’ve been wearing a black cardigan with diamante buttons on repeat recently.

It adds a little something extra to black straight leg jeans and you’ll be nice and toasty too. Speaking of black, I’ve been oddly drawn to it recently and while it might not at first glance seem very spring-like, it’s actually quite a practical colour to get wear out of before the summer brights come along.

Black is always chic and understated and will fit in well in any wardrobe. It also works really quite well with light coloured denim so why not pair those black cardigans with light wash straight leg denim, a trench coat and a black kitten heel?

Add lots of simple gold jewellery and throw a stripe sweatshirt over your shoulder for extra style points. Another outfit idea that incorporates spring time black is the black chunky cardigan, a black, silky slip skirt and some flats. It’s perfect for this time of year, very pared back and simple but chic.

Jackets are also top of the list of any spring must-haves and it’s around now that the faux furs and heavy wool coats should be packed away making room for lighter jackets to shine.

I feel like I can’t extol the virtues of the trench coat anymore.

You all know it’s an essential item for me but lets chat about shorter more cropped jackets for spring.

The cropped trench in cotton or in leather will take you from workwear to a night out and are the next step on from the trench if you’re looking to change it up a bit.

The quilted jacket is another great option. Super cosy and gives a nod to the boho trend which has made a come back this season. Anyone else regretting throwing out their leather disc belts?!

If you want something a little bit dressier then look no further than a cropped, boucle trophy jacket that will elevate your jeans look.
