People in the know have been enjoying Youghal’s wide and welcoming beaches for years, and now this stretch of coastline is aiming for a resurgence in popularity with the launch of the new Living Youghal branding and website livingyoughal.ie.

With all the information in one place, it’s now easy for people to discover everything the picturesque east coast town has to offer. It’s a pivotal moment for the town, affirming a deserved place on Ireland’s tourist map for the postcard-pretty seaside destination.

Sitting within Ireland’s Ancient East, just an hour from the cities of Cork and Waterford, the town has rich offerings for families, couples and adventurers alike.

The wealth of maritime and historical heritage, architectural richness, and dedication to sustainability are all captured under the new Living Youghal brand and website.

Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Frank O'Flynn said: “Youghal has been a much-loved seaside destination for many years. This new brand and website will highlight the depth of Youghal’s tourism offering, acting as a hub of information for visitors, while inviting them to experience the rich tapestry of heritage, culture, natural beauty, and warm hospitality this area has to offer.”

Famous for its 5km of Blue Flags sandy beaches, you’ll also find cruising and kayaking on the Blackwater River; gorgeous woodland, coastal and marshland walks; a bit of birdwatching on Ballyvergan Marsh and Slob Bank, and some terrific golfing.

History lives in this designated heritage town; one of the finest examples of a Norman-walled town in Ireland.

With several architectural styles dating back to the Middle Ages, guided tours are fascinating and immersive from the iconic Clock Gate Tower to the Raleigh Quarter, named for its illustrious past resident, Sir Walter Raleigh.

As well as the safe, soft beaches, there’s some indoor fun to be found at Perk’s Entertainment Centre and Aura Leisure Centre, and the beautifully restored Regal Cinema.

The blossoming foodie culture has spawned eateries to suit every taste; from a thriving café scene to lots of locally caught seafood and artisanal producers. A calendar of fun festivals and events make it a great destination regardless of season.

Long-time Youghal resident Marian O’Keefe continues to be enchanted by the town she’s called home for over 40 years.

“When I travel, I love coming home to Youghal for the sense of space, peace and clean air. Walking the beach and swimming in the sea, at any time of year, soothes the soul. I’m delighted people will find the well-hidden Raleigh Quarter beneath the town walls that surround the 800 year old St Mary’s Church – it hosts lots of musical events by the way – and you can choose from hotel luxury to self-catering or caravanning. There’s lots to do; you can explore a different hidden gem in Youghal on every visit.”
