Walk like a Brazilian

By Maisie Mould

If you would like to see if you still can play like Pele, but you haven’t played for a long time, then walking football might be just for you.

Walking football with Cork Sports Partnership is a fantastic way to enjoy the game you love at a more suitable pace. With no running, and reduced physical contact, it is a safer, less strenuous way to stay active and have fun.

It also offers the opportunity to socialise and make new friends. Some known benefits include improvements to balance and coordination, better mobility, reduced stress levels and better quality of sleep.

Open to both newcomers and those returning to the sport, Cork Sports Partnership offers a free weekly programme of walking football for older people in a variety of venues, including Ballea Park in Carrigaline, Lakewood Athletic FC in Ovens, and Ringmahon Rangers AFC.

It is also on in the Mardyke Sports Ground astro pitch for just €5 per month. For more information, visit the Cork Sports Partnership website at www.corksports.ie.
