Affordable housing launched in Killeens by Cork City Council
A new affordable housing scheme has been launched in Killeens which will see nine new homes built.
Eligible buyers can purchase the three-bedroom homes from €320,000 at Carraig Dún, less than 6km from Cork city centre. This reflects a discount of around 20% below market value.
This development is for sale by Cork City Council, in partnership with Galtymore Homes. Speaking at the launch, the Lord Mayor of Cork Cllr Fergal Dennehy, said: “This project is a clear demonstration of the council’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, affordable homes for the people of Cork.
“Cork City Council has exceeded its housing targets for the 2022–2024 period, and it is developments like this that are helping to keep us firmly on that upward trajectory.”
Brian Geaney, Deputy Chief Executive of Cork City Council, added: “Cork City Council is delighted to partner with Galtymore Homes to deliver this, our tenth affordable housing development. Carraig Dún is another significant milestone in Cork City Council’s expanding affordable housing portfolio, bringing the total number of homes offered under the scheme to over 400 houses.”
Carraig Dún is close to key shopping areas, including Blarney, Blackpool, and Ballyvolane. I
t is also near the walking trail at Clogheenmilcon Fen. The location offers excellent road links to the North Ring Road, N20 Dual Carriageway, and is just 2km from the proposed new North Ring Motorway.
The homes are architect-designed and A2 energy rated. They are mainly for first-time buyers who do not own other properties. However, Fresh Start applicants may also qualify. Income limits apply, and all applicants must meet the scheme’s criteria.
Buyers will enter into an Affordable Dwelling Purchase Agreement with the council. Under this agreement, the council keeps a percentage share in the property, equal to the price difference between the market value and the purchase price.
Applications will be accepted from 12 noon on Wednesday 6 August until midnight on Wednesday 27 August. Apply online at carraigdun.ie.
Interested applicants are advised to review all required documents in advance. Demand is expected to be high. For more information, contact: affordablehousing@corkcity.ie.
