Combining timeless heritage with strong tailoring
If you’re looking to make an investment in your wardrobe this season with an Irish label that holds so much in terms of heritage and quality, and you know you’ll have this piece in your wardrobe forever then look no further than Magee 1866’s new autumn winter collection.
Inspired by the beautiful landscape of Donegal, this season combines timeless heritage with strong tailoring across womenswear, menswear and home. Magee 1866’s Creative Director, Charlotte Temple said about the collection: “Autumn Winter is the season we come into our own, as a brand that has created standout outerwear in our iconic Donegal tweeds with rich and luxurious natural fibres from wool to alpaca. Colour notes within the collection this year range from deep berry red to burgundy, warm bracken to chocolate brown, a reflection of our ever-changing landscape and inspiration right here in Donegal.”
For women, there’s a deep red-hued herringbone Donegal tweed coat, the Arlene (€675), which works a slightly oversized silhouette and a winter white Olivia coat in Irish wool, both are eye-catching pieces, as well as the fitted Rosie coat in camel-hued herringbone Donegal tweed.
The new autumn-winter 2025 collection includes beautiful home interior throws and the Olivia coat (€450), which is designed and woven in Donegal and is made with Irish wool in soft creamy colours and elegant patterns, making them special forever pieces that will last the test of time.
This is a really special piece that could be worn with so many things and its classic shape means this will never date. I’m also very fond of the luxe Izzy jacket and I’m especially taken with the funnel neckline and shorter style which makes it a little bit different.
Now while I’m here lusting over gorgeous autumn winter pieces, I also can’t fully get my mind in the new season vibe as I’m heading away this week on a break to Valencia in Spain where the temperatures are meant to be 30 degrees so I’ll be holding off on introducing tweeds and wools to my wardrobe ‘til I get back. Even though it’s not particularly chilly, I just cannot wait to start wearing my knitwear, but I won’t unpack it ‘til I get back. I had almost packed away the summer clothes, but they’ll be needed for this last hurrah to the sun. You know me and when it comes to flying, I’m an absolute cheapskate and will do my utmost to bring only the small cabin bag so I’m carefully thinking about what to bring and the packing cubes will be working overtime for this mini break.
I have to say the packing cubes have been a revelation. Recently I’ve gone low key and casual with my holiday outfits and comfort of course is key but as this is a girls trip I want to make a little bit more of an effort. It just requires a little bit of list making, being ruthless with shoe choices and making sure to pack a great selection of jewellery.
While my outfits might be simple: think shorts, linen shirts, and linen dresses, I will be using accessories to elevate the looks. There might even be space for a souvenir or two!
