Collab plays out in A major success

Music and fashion have collided through a new partnership between Iconic guitar brand Gibson and fashion house Marc Jacobs to create a limited edition collection.

The Gibson x Marc Jacobs JOY collection features one special Gibson Les Paul Standard Daisy Joy design created in partnership with Marc Jacobs, as well as additional Gibson Les Paul Studio guitars designed by London-based artist and illustrator Hattie Stewart. In total, eight customised Marc Jacobs Gibson Les Paul guitars have been created, with four now available exclusively at The Corner at Nordstrom in New York city.

The collection also features guitar straps and picks, as well as accessories, signature bags, and ready-to-wear items from Moleskine, maxbone, Crayola, Mattel, Converse, SHUT, and more, designed in collaboration with renowned artists David Shrigley and Derrick Adams.

Known for culture-defining creative collaborations that extend beyond fashion, Marc Jacobs has spent the past year developing this collection. The result is a vivid expression of joy. Hattie Stewart's pop-surrealist florals and characters offer a psychedelic burst of optimism; Shrigley's satirical wit channels the absurdity that sparks laughter and lightness; and Adams' vibrant geometries celebrate colour, rhythm, and play.

“Music and fashion have always fuelled each other, and this collaboration is Gibson's way of celebrating that connection," said Jenny Marsh, Global Director of Cultural Influence and Artist Programs at Gibson.

During the recent New York Fashion Week, fans and Marc Jacobs himself brought the JOY collection to life with a launch party at The Corner at Nordstrom. The crowd of fashion and art insiders, which included Whoopi Goldberg, Derrick Adams, June Ambrose, and Abi Hoffman, enjoyed a special live music performance from Gibson Spotlight artist, Los Angeles-based alt pop singer-songwriter Devon Thompson, who recently released her new single ‘Wishing’.

“Getting to perform with two of the most iconic brands in history, Gibson and Marc Jacobs for NYFW was nothing short of life changing – I thrived,” said Thompson.

“Fashion is music, and music is fashion. They’re nothing without each other, and I am nothing without them. I know in the future I will be doing a lot more work in the fashion industry when it comes to Gibson and my music,” she added.

Marc Jacobs invited a circle of like-minded partners to interpret the JOY campaign through their own iconic products. From customised Gibson Les Paul guitars, straps and picks, to Converse sneakers, and SHUT skateboards to Brompton bikes, vibrant Moleskine journals, collectible box sets of premium Crayola adult creative tools, luxe pet accessories from maxbone, and two Barbie dolls wearing one-of-a-kind miniaturised styles from the collection – each item becomes a joyful canvas for this artistic collaboration. A multi-sensory journey, the JOY campaign was shot by Nick Newbold and styled by Stella Greenspan.
