It’slice to be nice!

A little pizza kindness

A grateful Corkonian has taken to social media to publicly thank a mystery man for a random act of festive kindness.

The act took place at a pizza stall at the Marina Market where a customer went to pay for their food only to find out the man ahead of them had beaten them to it.

“I got a lovely surprise tonight when a stranger had already paid for my food when I got to the till in Frankies in Marina Market,” they wrote on Cork’s dedicated Reddit page, r/cork.

“He was long gone when I realised what he had done. It really made my day as I had been at home most of the week with my newborn baby. It was a treat alone to get out for a few hours, let alone be the recipient of this random act of kindness.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you to the kind gentleman. I really hope you see this!” they added.

With this single kind act, the gentleman may well have started a chain reaction of kindness in Cork with the recipient promising to pay forward the gesture to another unsuspecting person.

And it seems there are plenty of kind people doing kind things in Cork with numerous comments below the original post sharing similar stories.

One Redditor wrote: “About 15 years ago, the car ahead of me in the queue for the toll paid my toll and since then, every time I go through the toll, I pay for the car behind me. I always remember the intrigue and curiosity. I hope they’re experiencing that feeling… it’s nice to be nice.”

Another shared: “The other day I saw an old lady paying the meal of four teenagers randomly. I love this Christmas spirit. I wonder if it could endure for the whole year, at least once.”
