Getting creative with my wardrobe

We’ve survived January and I am happy to report I have successfully completed a month of no spending on clothes but alas I have yet to make cycling progress.

However, I think given the recent crazy weather I could be forgiven for not getting on the bike just yet.

I’m pretty certain I’ll be all go now once there’s a bit of a stretch in the evenings and it’s not completely lashing rain. I must say I have found the no spend less hard than I thought probably because for one, I feel like I haven’t been paid in a million years and I am really enjoying getting creative with my wardrobe.

Not mindlessly spending has meant I’m wearing the clothes I already have so much more and I’m styling items that normally languish at the back of my wardrobe.

I think it’s made me appreciate the items of clothing that are particularly versatile and have a number of different styling options. I know I tend to harp on about this, but I have been sartorially saved on a number of occasions by a co-ord.

Perfect for casual, work and dressy wear, I have been mixing and matching up a storm with my sets.

If you haven’t dipped your toe into sets and feel like you might like to invest, I have spotted the perfect one on a new online store called JOCO Boutique which launched in November and have carefully curated new drops each month.

The collection strikes the perfect balance between on-trend design and subtle, unique details that set each individual piece apart.

The set I’ve spotted is a navy pinstripe jacket and trousers with a nice relaxed structure to it and I particularly love the zip detailing at the front.

Honestly you could just wear this in so many ways.

Of course, it looks so great worn together and could be dressed down with trainers or worn for work with boots, but the jacket would also look perfect styled with a white tee and jeans while a pair of navy pinstripe trousers are a total wardrobe essential in my eyes.

I have a similar pair and I wear them all the time with a navy knit and trainers and with an oversized white shirt.

Speaking of versatile pieces, the boutique also has a Marley bomber that looks so cosy and even better the contrasting colour hood and cuffs are detachable. How fabulous is that?

It’s a piece that will carry you through the seasons.

In my quest to jazz up my wardrobe, I have also been leaning heavily on my accessories which I suppose is nothing new, but I have been particularly loving scarves.

I always love to style a neckerchief into my looks, but I’ve pulled out a couple of bigger, bandana ones that I hadn’t worn in ages and I’m styling them worn under loose v-neck knitwear. I find I feel very chilly wearing a V-neck knit when it’s cold so with the addition of the scarf I now have about five other jumpers I can add to my rotation.

As we near the end of the month I’m wondering how long my no spend will last?!

Answers on a postcard please.
