Female founders flourish

An early start and a trip to Dublin set the scene for a beautifully curated morning celebrating female entrepreneurship and performance-led haircare.

Hosted at Alan Keville Hair, guests were welcomed with signature cocktails from Little Pyg and whimsical treats from Be Sweet Café before settling in for an immersive Juvaré experience. The focus of the morning was the brand’s five-piece COM-PLEX range, showcased through a four-step cleansing and conditioning ritual, culminating in a professional blow-dry designed to demonstrate both sensorial luxury and visible results. Jake did my blow dry and I adored the feeling of strength and softness. I couldn’t believe the price tag either, less than €15! Another Cork woman Triona was there also!

Founded by Jane Buckley, Juvaré has been years in development. Created in partnership with a Spanish manufacturer with more than 60 years of expertise in professional haircare, the brand is grounded in technical craftsmanship and formulation integrity. At the core of the COM-PLEX system sits an advanced Amino Acid Complex, engineered to replenish the amino acids hair naturally loses over time through colouring, heat styling, UV exposure and environmental stress.

The results were immediate. Hair felt noticeably softer, silkier and stronger, with a smoother cuticle finish and enhanced shine. The formulas are fortified with high-performance ingredients including pro-vitamin B5, vegetable glycerine, vitamin E and a curated blend of argan, raspberry, macadamia, sweet almond and wheat germ oils — delivering strength and repair without the salon-level price tag.

Founded in 2025 by Lorraine, a lawyer and entrepreneur with a long-standing passion for self-tanning, beauty and wellness, Glowguards is a brand rooted in lived experience.

Like many devoted self-tanners, Lorraine loved the confidence that a flawless glow brings — but not the stress that often comes with it. Stained sheets, disrupted sleep, hotel anxiety, and the endless cycle of washing bedding became an all-too-familiar frustration in what should have been a relaxing self-care ritual. Instead of accepting the inconvenience, she set out to engineer a solution.

Glowguards was created to remove the friction from self-tanning routines for Lorraine and for what she affectionately calls the “glowgang”. The brand’s hero product, The Slumber Set, is a protective bed solution designed specifically for overnight tan wear. Practical, considered and easy to use, it allows users to tan confidently without worrying about transfer onto bedding.

What sets Glowguards apart is its blend of functionality and sustainability. The Slumber Set is recyclable, designed for multiple uses during tan development and fade, and eliminates the need for excessive laundry saving time, energy and unnecessary product waste. It is compatible with all fake tan brands and formulas, making it an accessible addition to any routine. Treat to bring as a houseguest too if you’re planning to tan!

Lorraine’s legal background brings a structured, solution-driven mindset to the brand, while her personal passion for beauty ensures the product remains consumer-first. Glowguards isn’t about reinventing tanning it’s about refining the experience around it.

At its core, Glowguards reflects a broader shift in beauty: women identifying everyday pain points within their routines and creating intelligent, purposeful products to solve them. Because self-care should feel effortless not logistical.
