Men appear in court after garda ramming incident
Two men have appeared before Cork District Court this morning in connection with a shocking vehicular ramming incident which left a female garda in hospital.
The men, one in his early 20s and the other in his late teens, were arrested yesterday following reports of a stolen SUV driving erratically in an industrial estate in Glanmire at around 2.20pm.
When gardaí arrived on the scene and attempted to stop the stolen car, the occupants rammed a garda patrol vehicle, causing injury to the female garda.
She was taken from the scene to CUH for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported during the incident.
It is understood that the occupants of the stolen SUV then fled the scene on foot.
In a follow up search of the scene, two adult males were arrested and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a nearby garda station.
Gardaí are asking for anyone with information in relation to this incident to contact them.
Anyone who was in the Glanmire industrial estate on Monday afternoon between 1.30pm and 3pm and who may have camera footage, including mobile phone and dash-cam, is asked to contact gardaí.
Gardaí can be contacted at Gurranabraher Garda Station on 021-4946200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666111, or at any garda station.
