In dresses we trust!
I’ve got a couple of weddings coming up this autumn and it’s got me thinking about getting glammed up and how I can transition my dressier wardrobe into a new season.
I’m not really thinking about what to wear to the weddings yet, it’s just in the back of my mind but I was on two nights out over the bank holiday weekend, and I did feel a bit like I have neglected my going out wardrobe. Now, granted, it’s not like I’m out and about every weekend but I could definitely do with sprucing up what I have and maybe adding a few more pieces.
So, what’s an easy way to update your glam I hear you ask? Well, for me it’s of course a trusty dress.
From maxi to mini and everything in between, you really can’t beat a dress when you want something that looks glam and is easy to wear. A fabulous dress does all the heavy lifting of the outfit, and you won’t need to think too much about accessories.
The hardest part for me is finding the right footwear as my days in a high heel are very much in the past.
A good pair of boots is absolutely essential, especially coming into the autumn. I have a gold pair of knee high cowboy boots, both a silver and a white pair of ankle boots, and a pair of taupe suede slouchy boots.
This rotation ensures that whatever the dress, I’ve got a pair of boots to match.
I do have a pair of black boots, but I honestly rarely reach for them as I prefer a lighter shade of boot. For other people, I know that a black boot will be a complete footwear staple.
I’ve seen a really lovely pair of slouchy boots from the Colleen Rooney collection at Penneys that look way more expensive than they actually are and would carry you through autumn/winter.
If you’re looking to update your dress collection, then have a peek at Rare London who have a new collection called The Hour Turns which is a collection created for golden-hour gatherings, late-night occasions, and the changing season ahead. From elegant maxi dresses and standout minis to elevated separates, these are the pieces that transition from dinner reservations to wherever the evening takes you and really is a one stop shop for whatever dress style takes your fancy.
I have spotted two dresses from the collection that I think would take you to any social gathering and are also super flattering.
A flirty little brown mini dress with polka dot is such a standout fun dress that would work for dinner or drinks and could even be dressed down a bit with some flat boots. The flute sleeves are to die for and add an interesting silhouette.
If you’re looking for something with a bit more length and to add a demure vibe to your wardrobe, then the rich wine coloured ruched dress is the one for you. Soft and stretchy fabric that’s ruched in all the right places means that this dress is going to make you feel amazing in this sculpted silhouette.
You could easily wear with boots but add a pair of heels and this dress would make an elegant winter wedding guest look that you’ll get to wear again and again.
