Bodycare is having a moment

Thankfully, bodycare has become considerably more interesting, and the latest launches are giving us hydration, glow and gorgeous fragrance without adding another laborious step to the routine.

First up is Fenty Skin Butta Drop Hydrating Body Milk, which is exactly the kind of body moisturiser I like: quick, easy, and no hanging around in your underwear waiting for it to absorb. The lightweight milk sinks in almost instantly and leaves skin soft with a lovely satin finish.

It comes in two of Fenty’s best-selling scents. Vanilla Flowers is warm and delicious with bergamot, vanilla orchid, Tahitian vanilla, sugared woods, and musk, while Hey Bouquet is brighter and more floral, combining orange zest, pink peppercorn, rose and jasmine with creamy sandalwood. If you’re into fragrance layering, this is a very good place to start.

For a little more glamour, The Ritual of Karma Body Shimmer Oil is gorgeous for summer. With lotus flower and white tea, it leaves the skin feeling soft while adding a subtle, golden shimmer. And I mean subtle — we’re looking for expensive-looking, glowing limbs here, not a teenage disco circa 1998.

Lips are technically skin too, so I’m including the new Vaseline Gluta-Hya Lip Serum Gloss. This is a clever little hybrid with tripeptide, four forms of hyaluronic acid, GlutaGlow antioxidant technology, and SPF 15. It comes in four shades: Rosy Pink, Juicy Peach, Cherry Crush, and Royal Plum, giving you hydration, shine, a hint of colour, and protection without that horrible sticky gloss feeling.

And finally, if you want your newly moisturised body to smell fabulous, Jo Malone London Sea Salt & Bergamot Cologne is a beautiful new addition. Created by perfumer Mathilde Bijaoui, it combines bergamot, sea salt, and driftwood for a fresh, mineral, woody fragrance inspired by the wild waters of the British coast.

If you already love Wood Sage & Sea Salt, this sits in the same coastal world, but while that fragrance is about standing on a windswept shore, this one is about getting straight into the sea. The full collection is launched in Brown Thomas.

So yes, your face still deserves the serums and creams, but this summer, don’t forget the rest of you.
