Celebrating 26 years at the heart of the northside

For more than quarter of a century, Blackpool Shopping Centre has been at the heart of Cork’s northside, serving generations of local families.

Over that time, much has changed, but one thing has remained constant: the strength of the community around it. Blackpool Shopping Centre has always been more than somewhere to shop; it is a meeting place, somewhere to catch up with friends and neighbours, and a destination that has grown alongside the people who visit every week.

That sense of connection is something the owners are enormously proud of, and it has helped shape the centre into the place it is today.

This year marks an exciting new chapter, following the completion of the refurbishment project. The investment has delivered a brighter, more modern and welcoming environment, enhancing the experience for customers and retailers while retaining the familiarity, convenience and sense of community that have always been central to Blackpool.

This Saturday 19 September, exactly 26 years to the day since it first opened its doors, the centre will celebrate both our birthday and the completion of the major refurbishment with a special community event from 11am to 4pm. There will be something for all the family, with face painters, balloon modellers, mascots, RedFM, giveaways and, of course, the all-important birthday cake! (the cake will be cut at 2pm).

Most of all, the day is an opportunity to say thank you to customers, staff, retailers, neighbours and community friends for their support and loyalty over the years. The centre look forward to continuing to serve the community, and to welcoming familiar faces through the doors for many years to come.
