A pair of community groups in Carrigaline are set to benefit from significant funding under the third tranche of the Covid-19 Stability Fund.

That’s according to local Fine Gael Cllr Liam O’Connor who said that Minister for Social Protection, Rural and Community Development and the Islands, Heather Humphreys, has confirmed that €76,421 has been allocated to Carrigaline.

The funding is being allocated across community and voluntary organisations, charities and social enterprises that are experiencing financial difficulties as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Carrigaline Lions Youth Centre will receive €15,865, while the Carrigaline Community Association CLG will receive €60,556.

Cllr O’Connor said that he felt it was “only right” for these organisations to receive the financial support needed to continue to provide service to the community.

Cllr O’Connor said: “Many organisations have been experiencing short term cash flow issues due to the Covid-19 crisis, and this funding will help with that.

“The funding has been prioritised for those organisations which have seen their trading and/or fundraising income drop significantly during the pandemic.

“I hope that this funding will help to support these organisations to continue to provide their valuable services to individuals and communities as we work our way through the impact of the pandemic,” he concluded.
