Cocaine caught in Castletownbere

Gardaí seized thousands of euro worth of cocaine in West Cork recently.

€7,000 worth of the drug was seized in Castletownbere by Gardaí from the Bantry drugs unit while being assisted by the West Cork divisional drugs unit.

Shortly after 8pm on 13 March, a man in his 20s was searched by Gardaí and was found to be in possession of a large number of deals of suspected cocaine.

The man was also found to be in possession of a weighing scales.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said: “The suspected drugs will now be sent for analysis.”

They continued: “No arrests have been made, the investigation is ongoing and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.”
