Strength in Diversity X

Junior Chamber International (JCI) Cork are hosting an event which will feature speakers on the topic of overcoming issues of diversity.

The event, entitled Diversity X, has two speakers lined up for a talk about the importance of diversity, and the effect it has had on their lives. Diversity X aims to encourage individuals valuing each other regardless of skin, intellect, talents or years. The speakers are CEO of Alex's Adventure Ltd, Nicole Ryan and founder of Raw Kitchen, Lion.L.

Alex’s Adventure Ltd is a ‘build your own e-dventure’ programme for substance misuse learning. A marine engineer by trade, Ms Ryan went back to college in 2017 to study Substance Misuse and Addiction in UCC.

She founded Alex’s Adventure in 2016. Buoyed by recent success, Alex’s Adventure is supported by a range of bodies including the Brazilian Yunus and Youth Social Entrepreneurship Fellowship, UCC Ignite Programme, and the Argentinean Social Innovation Warehouse. It hopes to impact over 500,000 students in the next five years.

Lion.L is the founder of a plant-based restaurant providing nutritious and tasty options within the Model Arena. Lionel was determined to make a change within the vegan food market by offering an alternative option. To learn about vegan food, Lionel travelled to Dublin, Spain, the Netherlands and France to work with the best vegan chefs. This journey started three years ago and today, the overall mission of Lion.L Raw Kitchen is to help people to make the transition to healthier eating habits while still enjoying balanced, truly delicious and varied food.

JCI Cork is part of an international organisation aimed at attracting members aged 18 to 40, focusing on leadership, entrepreneurship and active citizenship. The organisation has a strong focus on developing young leaders by involving them in the running of many worthwhile projects which add to and enhance community life in Cork.

The event will take place in Bank of Ireland Workbench, 70 Patrick Street Cork on Tuesday 10 December at 6pm. Attendees will be required to register on the Diversity X page at eventbrite.ie.
