Frankie's story was published in the 4 April issue.

Frankie’s happy ending

Less than two weeks after the Cork Independent shared his story, Frankie the dog has found his forever home.

Frankie featured in the 4 April issue and it’s safe to say he didn’t go unnoticed!

A reader saw Frankie in the paper and got in touch with the CSPCA almost immediately. The couple then went to the shelter to visit the lucky dog and it was love at first sight.

The 18 month old lurcher didn’t have a great start in life having been dumped in the city back in February.

Thankfully he was taken in by the CSPCA and soon made a full recovery.

Now Frankie’s gone from rags to riches with a new home in the Kingdom with the couple and their children.

“Frankie moved to his new home in Kerry last week. It’s out in the countryside so he has lots of space to run around and chillax in the fresh air,” said Cassie Twomey of the CSPCA.

Cassie and the whole charity are delighted that he’s found a new home so quickly, saying: “Thanks so much for sharing his story and helping Frankie to find a home!"

While Frankie has got his happy ending, there are currently about 20 dogs at the shelter looking for a home not to mention cats and small animals. In particular two baby rabbits are “good and ready” to go to their forever home having been weaned.

The straightforward adoption process involves answering a questionnaire and providing ID and proof of address before coming in for a visit. There is an adoption fee that covers medical costs such as microchipping in the case of dogs, a procedure strongly endorsed by Cassie: “We always recommend to microchip pets in case they potter off.”
