It’s oh so pretty
Well, it certainly feels like summer has well and truly arrived.
If you’re looking to update your summer wardrobe with some stunning new pieces, then check out influencer Lauren Arthurs edit with Pretty Lavish.
The collection which is inspired by European summers, and which made me want to immediately move to the Italian coast is full of cool linens, light summer knits and some beautiful bursts of colour.
I’m always a fan of a co-ord set and the Dakota is a personal favourite featuring a light knit top and shorts. It’s absolutely ideal for Irish summers or for popping on in the evening on your holidays. It’s very chic, laidback and striped which ticks all the boxes.
There’s also the Suki set which as Lauren says is “a must for summer in the city and brunch with the girls”. I couldn’t agree more, and this black linen set of tailored trousers and a halter top begs to be styled with lots of chunky gold jewellery.
There’s also a dress for any occasion and the Penny striped bandeau with a tie detail at the back would be a stunning piece for a wedding abroad. Just add a statement earring.
If colour is more your thing, then there is also the Heather bandeau style that comes in a sea blue or in a pink floral.
The collection covers all your summer bases and lots of the pieces can be mixed and matched, worn dressy or casual if you’ve got a summer holiday coming up, you are sure to find many pieces to pack in the case.
I also made a big wardrobe change over this week and have finally felt confident in my decision to pack away coats and heavy knitwear. I also used it as a chance to have a big clear out which was badly needed.
I haven’t fully gotten all my summer bits out of the storage boxes yet though and I’m trying to wear the more spring-summer transition pieces for the time being because there is still a little bit of a chill in the air.
It’s always very exciting to open up the boxes at the start of the season and it’s really like shopping your wardrobe.
So far, I have found absolutely loads of little blouses that I had forgotten about and really I can’t remember ever being such a blouse fan but obviously at some stage last year I got very into white broderie anglaise blouses. I’ll be wearing them with loose, wide leg denims and espadrilles and attempting to wear them with that denim midi skirt I bought earlier in the year and which I still need to start styling and wearing.
I also got a pair of gold sandals from Love Cherish that I think will be my go to sandals for the summer. They are plaited gold leather and, so far, they have worked perfectly with everything I’ve worn them with. I also have been reunited with a cream linen waistcoat that I bought last summer and never got to wear so I’ll be styling that this summer with perhaps…the denim midi skirt and a red sandal.
Does anyone else also find that you think you have no dresses for the summer only to crack open a box full of them. I had completely forgotten about so many of them, so I have put myself on a dress ban for the rest of the year and have challenged myself to wear all of the dresses at least once over the summer.
