What sort of a Christmas Day dresser are you?
Oh my goodness, I can’t quite believe we have come to the end of 2025, where did the year go?
I feel so old when I say something like that, but time really is flying and of course I have fallen into the old trap of writing a Christmas list in November, buying one thing from said list and then thinking that you’ve pretty much got the festive season sorted.
Not one decoration has been put up but hey ho there’s still one weekend left to put that tinsel to work. I’ve gone a bit crazy and (after being quite good with my spending all year), I’ve now treated myself to a couple of bits and pieces as the year draws to a close. Some items are practical, some less so and my purchases really lead me onto one of my favourite topics which is what sort of a Christmas Day dresser are you? There are two distinct camps, the leisure wear girl and the glammy gal and I’ve been both down through the years.
When I used to leave the house on Christmas Day and spend the morning visiting people, I was all about the glamour. A recently purchased outfit of mine would be just perfect if you want to really look like a festive treat on the 25th. It’s an all cream ensemble featuring a very textured high neck top that's a longline style and which I’ve paired with cream silky trousers both from H&M, cream boots, leopard print bag and added a red lip to bring a pop of colour. I styled it with my black overcoat and here’s a little style tip for you for 2026 which is to add a brooch. The brooch is going to be a massive trend for 2026 so get raiding your granny’s jewellery box (with permission of course) for authentic vintage styles.
However, these days I’m terribly antisocial on Christmas Day and I love to spend the day all cosy in my house with just my family around and if the weather’s good, then I’ll pop out for a walk. I’ll lounge in pyjamas for a while which we know I love a good pair of pjs but it’s nice to freshen up and get into some gorgeous lounge wear.
I’ve bought some really gorgeous sets over the years, and I’ve got a number of sets that actually look great dressed up.
Enter my second outfit purchase which is a burgundy silky set that’s a fabulous copy of the super spendy Toteme set. I got mine again in H&M and it’s so stylish and yet so comfortable as the shirt and trousers are nice and oversized. I’ve got a similar set in black and in cream and they look equally good styled for night time. I also love a knitted set or even dare I say a more lurex style which can feel like a fancy tracksuit and I’m very much here for that. You know the drill by now; lash on the gold jewellery and you’re ready to eat your mince pies in style.
