Cardigan from Sinead Keary The Label.

Take your cue from the couple

We have exited hibernation, the sun is making a much welcome appearance and you’ve gotten a spring wedding invitation.

Life is good. I absolutely love attending nuptials at this time of year as it kicks off the beginning of wedding season. If, like me, you’ve not been doing much for the start of the year and haven’t even attended a glam event yet, then you will be absolutely dying to get the glad rags on.

The rules of wedding guest attire are so relaxed now that really anything goes so you can really play around with what you wear. I will say though that it’s always good to take your cue from the couple and if they are having a super traditional wedding in a country manor then maybe tone it down somewhat while still staying true to your personal style.

Nobody wants to upset the bride and groom by wearing leather chaps to the church!

Of course, spring time weddings go hand in hand with florals and pastels so if you’re a fan of this colour palette, now is your time to shine. I’ve spotted a beautiful baby blue dress from Rare London which combines blue with a polka dot skirt making it both on trend and very timeless. This is the sort of dress you can really dress up with silver metallic accessories, but it will also carry you into summer to be worn more casually with flat leather sandals.

I would pair it with the cream Julie cardigan from Sinead Keary The Label. Trying to find a cover up for dressy spring weddings can be tricky but a cardigan like this one will be your saviour when you don’t know what to wear over the glam guna.

This is worth its weight in gold and you can also pair it casually with trousers and denim.

I love being able to wear something for a fancy event but then be able to add it to my wardrobe and style it in multiple different ways. Gone be with the days of spending a couple of hundred on a dress for one day and never wearing it again.

Pastels also look great styled with darker shades like brown so you could also choose one of those more earthy tones to give it depth.

Florals are also a great print option and are so easy to wear as you don’t need to think too much about accessories. Opt for bold and vibrant colours and let the print do the talking.

I also love opting for a little short number especially for a less formal and more intimate city wedding.

Boho is back and take your cue from a more modern Sienna Miller and style a boho jewel coloured mini with platform sandals and some statement earrings. You can also pair it right back with a full-length silky slip dress that again needs very little styling, just add some gold earrings, a gold cuff, simple heels and a metallic clutch.

Pop an oversized jacket over the top and you are going to be the most chic guest at the wedding. One of my top tips always for wedding guest dressing is to have a comfortable pair of heels in your wardrobe that will pretty much go with everything.

Your dancing shoes if you like! I love to be able to dance all night in my heels without changing into the flip flops but if you must then ensure you’ve got a great bejewelled pair to slip into.
