The Collins Aerospace Cork offices on Penrose Wharf have been targeted four times by anti-Israel activists.

Activist in court following criminal damage

A man in his 30s has appeared before Cork City District Court in connection with a targeted attack on Collins Aerospace Cork in Cork city.

Gardaí were alerted to the attack shortly after 4am on Monday morning at the Penrose Wharf Business Centre where a number of members of the activist group Palestine Action Éire were causing damage to the building’s facade.

Messages such as “CA out” and “end the lease” were painted with red spray paint on the glass and it is understood hammers were used to smash a number of windows.

Gardaí arrested a man in his 30s and brought him to a garda station in Cork city where he was charged. He appeared in front of the Cork City District Court on Monday at 3.30pm.

Monday’s attack marks the fourth of its kind towards Collins Aerospace Cork, with Palestine Action Éire calling for the company to be evicted from Cork due to its parent company, RTX’s ongoing supply of military technology to Israel.

In an email circulated on Monday morning, a person claiming to represent Palestine Action Éire said: “The people of Cork have been campaigning against Collins Aerospace being here for years. We all know that they are working with the IDF and support them in their genocidal war against the Palestinian people. This is the 4th time Palaction has been here and if they keep doing business here, it won't be the last. Penrose Wharf is complicit by supplying the pace for Collins Aerospace to work in. Evict Collins now.”

Gardaí confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
