Some of the looks from the recent Spring/Summer brunch hosted by Opera Lane.

Spring and summer styles on show

I must say it has gotten me in the mood to throw off the winter layers and embrace my inner summer child.

Now I know it’s still a little bit chilly but I have the biggest urge to cast off my trainers and dig the Mary Jane pumps out of the back of the wardrobe. The big question is am I brave enough to go sockless yet or is it just too early for such a bold move? Nobody wants to be walking around admittedly looking great but with blue feet, it’s just not a vibe!

One such style of shoe that I spotted on Opera Lane and loved instantly were a stunning pair of gold, woven flats with a little gold leather strap from Next and these are top of my summer shopping list. They tick so many boxes, gold, woven and the perfect mix of being flat and thus comfortable but also could be dressy too. They sort of have a Sezane feel but with a much more affordable price tag.

I love how they were styled with balloon/harem leg trouser which I also need a pair of, but these would also instantly dress up a pair of jeans or would work so well with a dress if you didn’t want to wear heels. Think of those summer days when you go for brunch with the girls but don’t come home till that night.

I have also spotted a very cute woven pair in brown in Dunnes Stores and the colour would go perfectly with all the spring colours especially that powder blue colour that I’m seeing everywhere. I would style super casually with barrel leg jeans, an oversized blue and white striped shirt and brown leather handbag.

Accessories are what I’ll really be updating my wardrobe with this season and we are being spoilt at the moment with so many great trends around at the moment. These aren’t just flash in the pan trends but actual timeless styling tips that we can use in our wardrobes forever.

Enter the scarf and the multiple, stylish ways that we can incorporate it into our looks. A zebra print scarf tied to a handbag instantly elevates a classic look while a gold, coin belt instantly gives a St Tropez feel to earthy coloured separates.

If you don't want to spend a fortune this season but want to freshen up your looks then a great accessory is the perfect way to do this. The trusty silky scarf is a styling must have no matter the season and it’s something that you probably already own so you won’t even have to spend a penny.

Add colour, print and texture to a simple look by tying it around your waist leaving a triangular piece to the side. I’m also a big fan of brooches, having worn them for years but they are back this season in a big way and add so much visual interest to a lapel while also showing your own individual style. Check out market, vintage and charity shops for quirky pieces. I love how people have been wearing multiple brooches on their vintage blazers for a truly original and statement look.
