What's the perfect brunch style?
The time has finally come, my favourite time of the year when you take that first outing without a coat.
The sun is shining and you’re stepping out in light layers, dare I say your ankle is bare and you’ve got your fav pair of sunnies on.
Now is the time when a jacket really comes into its own and for me it’s the whole outfit. I went for a gorgeous brunch on Sunday in Lishh cafe (can we just agree that boozy brunches are better than nights out?) and I based my look around a new denim jacket I recently bought.
It was a cropped mid wash piece and had a large statement collar. I paired it with some barrel leg jeans and some grey kitten heel, sling backs and a burgundy slouchy leather bag. The washes on both denim pieces were similar so it worked as a co-ord and was a perfect smart/casual brunch outfit.
There are so many beautiful jackets out there at the moment and I spotted a fabulous one the other day from Joco boutique.
They’ve teamed up with influencer Siobhán Kelly to launch a chic seven piece collection of on trend wardrobe staples each with a unique twist, from a statement burgundy leather jacket which looks much more expensive than it’s price tag to detailed denim.
The striped jacket with high neck collar is a real standout piece and looks so chic styled with a pair of jeans and would be a great look for weekend dinner dates, just add some heels. The collection launched in Siobhán's hometown of Ennis in Seoidín Jewellery with prices running from €21-€84.95.
I’m also very into cropped jackets at the moment and would love a cropped trench which makes a great alternative to the regular length one and is the perfect jacket to bring into your summer wardrobe.
The length of the crop makes it ideal to wear with high waist trousers or jeans and to pair with mid length, voluminous skirts as I find it can be hard to pair a longer jacket with a skirt. I bought a cropped, oversized leather jackets a few years ago and I need to start wearing it again.
I’ll be pairing it with my leopard print Adidas joggers, a white tee and a thong heeled sandal for summer nights out. In my recent wardrobe clearout, I also found a green silk, cropped jacket with mandarin collar that I had completely forgotten about, and which nearly got given away and I’m delighted that I kept onto it, as it would work so well over slip dresses or even with a pair of jeans. It adds opulence so effortlessly.
Coming into the summer, blazers are my go-to workwear staple and I especially love an oversized linen blend piece that’s light enough for the office and still looks super smart.
Blazers are one item that you can really luck out on when it comes to vintage shopping and thrifting. The menswear sections always have great blazers and jackets that you can easily jazz up with brooches, the quality is usually very good and won’t cost much. Jackets are the one thing that I never mind investing in because I know I’ll always get the wear out of them and more often than not they’ll be worn year after year.
