Cork gets Greenlight for music overload
Fresh off a jam-packed May bank holiday in Dublin, the series now has it’s sights set on Cork with a blistering Irish and international line-up of over 20 acts set to play nine venues from today (Thursday) through to Sunday.
The stellar line-up includes Irish rock band, Inhaler; Canadian indie outfit, Men I Trust; international superstar, DJ Jazzy (fresh off her first appearance at Coachella); a very special DJ set from Fun Lovin Criminals’ Huey Morgan; Wicklow’s breakout indie-rock phenomenon, Florence Road; and Cork’s very own hot property, Cliffords.
Moving beyond the main stage and into the heart of cities across Ireland, Heineken Greenlight is built around a simple idea: creating ‘pinch me’ city gig experiences that fill bank holidays with live music across the year, bringing fans closer than ever to their favourite acts.
For Fiona Curtin, marketing director at Heineken Ireland, bringing the series to Cork was a no-brainer.
She said: “Cork’s rich and passionate music culture makes it the ideal city for Heineken Greenlight. After an incredible launch in Dublin, we’re proud to bring this platform to Cork, turning some of the city’s best loved venues into intimate spaces for fans to experience world class artists up close.
“Live music runs deep in Cork, and we’re thrilled to celebrate it,” Fiona Curtin added.
According to UK-based Irish BBC 6 DJ, Deb Grant, Cork is in for a huge treat when Heineken Greenlight rolls into town.
She said: “The Dublin shows were some of the best I’ve ever experienced, and I can’t wait to see some more of these artists really connect with fans in such awesome, intimate settings.
“Trust me, you won’t want to miss these shows,” she said.
