A tribute to Pádraig

By Jarlath Feeney

It was with great sadness that we heard of the passing of our dear friend and former work colleague, Pádraig (Podge) Feen, on Monday 15 June.

For five years between 2018 and 2023, Pádraig worked with us in the Cork Independent, as part of our sales and marketing team. Every day, Pádraig came to work with a smile on his face, encouraged and supported everyone he worked with, and undertook his own work with diligence and enthusiasm. He was a great man for bringing new ideas and fresh thinking to every situation.

But it was Pádraig’s personality and kind manner that endeared him to everyone he met and worked with. He had never had a negative word to say about anyone, and his bright smile lit up every room he walked into.

Everyone who worked with Pádraig in the Cork Independent is deeply saddened by his passing. We extend our deepest heartfelt sympathies to his mother and father, Phil and Donal, his beautiful son, Ollie, his sister, Maria, Ollie’s mam, Grace, and all his extended family.

May Pádraig’s gentle and beautiful soul rest in peace.
