Save yourself from tech neck!

Summer is coming and with that comes swimsuits, scoop necks and the dreaded crepe neck.

One of the first areas to age in both men and women is the neck area, and indeed there are many reasons for this. One of the most common reasons is that we tend to not treat the area with the same amount of TLC that we treat our face. It experiences the same wear and tear as our face but has the additional problem of gravity not being on its side.

There are loads of lifestyle changes we can adopt, such as drinking more water, taking supplements, getting more sleep and using the right pillow.

Exfoliate it as you would your face and if you are getting a facial or some laser then ensure that your therapist treats your neck. The area can be prone to skin tags too which can be effectively removed with laser or electrolysis.

Here are some of the best creams designed especially for your neck:

Nimue Neck & Décolleté Cream (€134). The Neck & Décolleté Cream from Nimue Skin Technology taps into omics advances and technologies to meet the needs of the skin.

With the focus on ageing, it provides lifting and firming benefits to one of the most stubborn areas to treat, whilst dramatically reducing wrinkle depth. Formulated with a complex of omics-based active ingredients and a very powerful restructuring extract, the product is fed into the skin through a unique hybrid system.

Prai Ageless Throat and Décolletage Crème (€31) is Prai's number one selling product. This weightless creme developed specifically for the throat and décolletage helps to promote cell firmness and resiliency, while absorbing with minimal blending to avoid skin stretching.

The formula is comprised of Sepilift DPHP to restore elasticity and support skin’s collagen. Shea butter, hyaluronic acid, squalene and glycerin keep skin supple and visibly reduce and correct the signs of aging. The product features mulberry, saxifrage and grapeseed extracts which combine in synergy to brighten and diminish discoloration and age spots.

Image the Max Stem Cell Neck Lift (€110) is an ultra-firming neck and décolletage lifting treatment that targets sagging skin, deep creases, wrinkles and fine lines. Contains the maximum concentration of innovative peptides combined with plant-derived stem cell technology that helps increase elasticity, brightens, tightens and defines the neck and jawline. Youthfulness is restored after just a few applications.

Clarins Extra Firming Neck Cream (€60) offers anti-wrinkle, firming and lifting for a younger, smoother and more toned neck. A non-oily, lightweight neck cream containing powerful green seaweed extracts and sunflower auxins, combined with Clarins patented extra-firming complex, to soften, smooth and firm the neck and décolleté.

Neo Strata Triple Firming Neck Cream is a favourite of mine. It firms and tightens the neck area and helps specially to plump and rehydrate the delicate skin on your neck and décolleté. The ingredients ensure that it smooths rough, crepey skin and the pro-amino acid helps enhance collagen. NeoGlucosamine gently exfoliates skin to help reduce the appearance of uneven pigment which is probably one of the most important actions of it.

I would encourage people to start looking after their neck in their thirties due to the latest problem that doctors are warning us about, tech neck, which is a sagging we get from looking down at our phones and tablets!
