Glow up for 2020

Everybody loves a good launch and I am no exception. Springtime is around the corner and with that comes the brightest new products.

Hero products are the best that brands have to offer and in springtime, companies often relaunch them in different or limited-edition sizes or shades.

One brand that is brand new to the Irish market is Nouba. This brilliant Italian makeup brand was created by Rosy Armanini in 1978 after a visit to one of the Nuba tribes in Africa. Known for their extraordinary body paint to celebrate rituals, Rosy was inspired by their bright and bold use of colour. Nouba is also reflective of the French word ‘nouba’ meaning to ‘live it up’.

Nouba Highlighter Stick (€27) is an innovative all over stick created to obtain a lightweight dewy finish. Its special jelly-like formula gently glide on the face, guaranteeing a radiant look.

Nouba Glow is the perfect solution to create an incredible light play on the skin, eyes or lips. This product is an all-over maxi stick conceived to release an instantly dewy glow on the skin. Its gel-like texture gives sheer coverage that lasts all day. Natural gels give the texture and extraordinary creaminess sensation while film-like resins guarantee perfect sealing throughout the day.

Clarins Milky Boost Foundation has captured my heart for so many reasons. Milky Boost is a milk foundation innovatively formulated with magical micro pearls featuring micro-encapsulation technology, which makes them change colour upon contact with the skin. It smooths and evens out your complexion, making it luminous and radiant.

Since it comes in a large size, you get almost double the daily applications as a regular size. It is creamy white when applied and oxidises with your skin to offer skin brightening, colour evening and has light as air coverage. I was concerned that it might not last, but I needn’t have worried. It makes your complexion even, radiant, luminous and smooth and hydrates the skin and makes it soft. It smells so lovely and applies like a dream and is priced at €34 for 50ml.

The skin around the eyes is the most delicate, approximately ten times thinner than the skin on the rest of the face. This, combined with the fact that the area is subjected to the constant strain generated by our body’s fastest, most frequently used muscles means it's a critical area. From smiling, frowning and squinting at our screens, we make over 100,000 eye movements per day, many of which happen in less than 1/100th of a second - literally quicker than a blink of the eye! Eye rolling is my speciality, though!

It’s no surprise then that the eye area is one of the first places for ageing to appear. Give your eyes a boost with new BioLumin-C Eye Serum. Building on the success of Dermalogica’s original BioLumin-C Serum, this formula delivers the same brightening and firming power of the original serum – in a lightweight formula optimised to help fortify the delicate eye area. It brightens the eye area with a boost of vitamin C and firms the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as hydrates and gently exfoliates for smooth, healthy looking skin.

Now everyone knows that vitamin C is essential for bright eyes but are you ready for the science bit? The vitamin C molecules fight oxidative stress, brighten, and firm while arjun tree extract, rich in polyphenols, boosts skin’s resilience and provides antioxidant benefits. Micro-algae extract energises, smooths and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
