A little luxury at home for your face

Wednesday, 29th January, 2020 4:02pm

My first ever Cork Independent article was about treating yourself to some luxury at home - can you believe that was eight years ago? Well, I am headed back to my roots for my last article for January with some ideas for home pampering.

There is nothing nicer than kicking back and relaxing with a face mask or luxuriating in a bath. This week though, I am going to focus on solely on the face.

It is, of course, essential not to forget to treat the neck and decollatage, too. Tie your hair back and use a nice hairband to keep your hair off your face. I bought a few in Penneys recently for just €1.50 and they can be washed in the machine if you happen to get some product on them.

It’s handy to have a few of these to hand as well as it means you won’t miss any patches. Light a nice candle to help you relax.

Emma’s So Naturals design and create a collection of natural, high quality, plant-based wellness and home-fragrance products, scented with their own inspired blends of pure essential oils. Based in Ardee, Co. Louth, Emma’s So Naturals was founded in 2010 by Emma and David Fallon, who have grown their handmade wellness and home-fragrance product range to include three styles of long lasting, clean burning candles and new handmade soaps.

They are available in eight core pure essential oil fragrances, with new limited edition seasonal scents being released each year. The Emma’s So Naturals come beautifully packaged in an Irish designed and produced floral box, and the entire trove of all-natural products has been developed to be vegan and palm free, proving that conscientious can also be luxurious!

Trilogy's certified natural Hydrating Jelly Mask (€28.95) smooths and revitalises skin with a refreshing, rejuvenating jelly that is textured. Among the first of its kind in natural beauty, this cooling gel textured mask infuses skin with powerfully natural hyaluronic acid to help smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Rosehip oil and manuka honey deeply nourish, and aloe vera and New Zealand kawakawa refresh. It’s suitable for all skin types, particularly dry and dehydrated skins.

Use a Cleanse Off Mitt (€6.50) to remove any mask or makeup with a sweep of the mitt across your face.

If you're using it to cleanse then use your favourite balm, oil or foam.

Yon-Ka Paris Gommage (€37) is an award winning, non-abrasive, botanical polish that gently removes dead cells, provides clarity for dull complexions, hydrates and balances the skin. It soothes and purifies leaving a clear face with a gorgeous glow. This is a rub, as opposed to a scrub, which calms while exfoliating, and it is also suitable to use on the eye area. Simply apply to dry skin, leave on for five minutes and rub off. This topical exfoliator clings to debris and has no oil, meaning it is suitable for all skin types.

Yon-Ka Paris Guarana Scrub (€37) is an exfoliating cream that gently cleanses and purifies the skin. It delicately polishes due to two complementary microbeads (guarana seeds and organic brown rice). Softened by a cocktail of plant extracts with soothing virtues, skin feels smooth and silky, and its texture is refined. This scrub is a superfood cream scrub when you want to feel a bit of texture in your exfoliator. Simply massage onto damp skin to restore life and vitality.

Yon-Ka Paris Alpha-Fluid (€63) and Alpha Peel (€73) is a skin renewal programme for lasting skin texture improvements. Overnight, the renewing peel gently removes dead skin cells, revealing new, fresh and radiant skin. During the day, the hydrating fluid has a renewing and revitalising effect for softer, healthier and more beautiful skin.

Yon-Ka Paris Solution Clarte (€56.50) is a gentle and gradual peeling treatment that helps eliminate dead skin cells, reduce skin discolouration and improve skin quality. Your skin appears clearer and smoother, and your complexion recovers long lasting evenness, radiance and brightness.
