Find your skin hero at the chemist this summer

I feel justified in allocating a little budget each month to treat myself to some of the skincare, supplements, and haircare available.

The first range I would like to mention is Eucerin which has been a skin pioneer for over 130 years. Its best sellers are its moisturisers but the standout products for me include:

Hyaluron-Filler Night Peeling & Serum (€43) - this combines two powerful formulas for multiple anti-ageing benefits. The serum works on a double pump system and offers a refined skin texture and radiance.

The creamy emulsion contains an effective AHA complex and glycine saponin. AHAs exfoliate skin while glycine saponin supports the production of hyaluronic acid in the dermal layer where deeper wrinkles originate. The gel combines concentrated high and low molecular hyaluronic acid which works to smooth the external layers of skin. This is suitable for all skin types.

Hyaluron-Filler Vitamin C Booster (€23) - The Vitamin C Booster strengthens the skin while plumping up wrinkles for a fresh and more radiant look, with noticeable improvements after just seven days of daily use. From a personal perspective, I cannot say enough good things about the effect this has on my skin. I also think it would be a great one to do prior to an occasion or event.

Avène Thermal Spring Water turns thirty this month. It is naturally soothing, calming and softening, and is rich in components particularly recommended for the most sensitive skin.

The Thermal Water Spray is the core ingredient in each Avène product. This wonderful mist has endless uses!

It is a handbag hero as it hydrates after exercising or whilst travelling. On the dresser it tones after cleansing/makeup removal. It can help reduce redness and minimises itching caused by dryness. It helps to calm the skin after cosmetic procedures.

It’s brilliant for anyone doing a course of micro-needling or chemical peels. It cools sunburnt skin and can used on the skin after shaving or hair removal. Finally, it’s an ideal handbag essential for menopausal women experiencing hot flushes.

Swedish Nutra Vitamin C & D3 (€17.99) – This is a great tasting supplement that plays a particularly important role in boosting your immune system using vital vitamins. Vitamin C is needed to reduce tiredness and fighting the symptoms of fatigue and is commonly known as the sunshine vitamin and is most known for its mood-boosting properties. Zinc is also necessary for boosting our immune system as it produces white blood cells and is crucial all year round in helping to keep viruses and flu at bay.

It comes in a great-tasting orange flavour making it super easy to take. It has also got multiple skin benefits and can be implemented into your current regimen. Always consult your doctor before trialling any supplements.

Peppermint Organic Hair Crème (€14.50) - Whether it is a swim in the sea or a dip in the pool, add some nourishment and smoothness to your hair with Dr Bronner’s Peppermint Organic Hair Crème.

It is certified organic and fair trade, providing light styling hold while making hair silky-soft without any synthetic ingredients. Organic coconut oil makes hair shiny and luxurious, organic jojoba oil imparts excellent manageability and feel, while organic hemp oil moisturizes and softens hair. The organic and fair-trade peppermint essential oils also help cool the scalp in the summer sun.
